Starfish Class
Starfish is the Year 3 class.
Our teachers are Miss Hayhurst and Mrs Rigby. Mrs Rigby teaches us Monday and Tuesday and Miss Hayhurst teaches us Wednesday to Friday. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Reid, Mrs Morris and Miss Rosevear.
In Starfish we are curious and creative and love an opportunity to learn in a practical way across the whole curriculum.
In maths we enjoy a challenge and are learning formal methods to solve addition and subtraction calculations and our times tables. We love to compete on Times Table Rock Stars to improve our speed.
In writing lessons we love to learn new and adventurous vocabulary to use in our work. We are working hard on our presentation and we all aim to improve our handwriting by the end of the year! In Starfish we value reading and love listening to our Class story at the end of each day. We all have our own independent reading books and test our understanding of them with Accelerated Reader quizzes.
We immerse ourselves in the curriculum whether it is learning about Europe in Geography or The Romans in History and always enjoy an opportunity to learn outside. We love to play the Glockenspiels in music and in the Spring term we will all learn how to play a brass instrument. In year 3, we have started to learn French too, which we are very excited about. So far, we have learnt greetings in French which has come in very handy when we answer the register!
